Fountain Valley Schools Benefit
From New FVEF Grant Program
All 11 Fountain Valley School District librarians are busy updating their school libraries, and one special education teacher is enhancing her multi-year program, thanks to the Foundations' new Year-Round Grants program.
Designed to support district or school-wide programs that impact large numbers of students over an extended period of time, the grants made it possible for our librarians to replace old books, as well as to add new titles to their shelves. Newland School Speech and Language Pathologist, Jessica Haro, also met grant requirements and received a grant to purchase materials that her students will use throughout their elementary years.
Established by the Foundation Board and implemented with the guidance of Executive Administrator Joanne Lew, the year-round grants can be applied for any time during the year and are granted to qualifying recipients until funds run out. The Foundation also provides Individual Teacher Grants. Unlike Year-Round Grants, Teacher Grants are awarded each spring to individual teachers for use in their own classrooms and are funded by the previous year's Teacher Tribute dollars. All Foundation grants are awarded only after a rigorous application and review process.
Massive cutbacks in state funding make these grant programs vital to maintaining the enriched learning inherent to Fountain Valley public schools. Their success is celebrated by the generous volunteers and donors who make them possible. For more information about this or other Foundation programs, use the contact reference on this Website.
