The three-part Festival of the Arts concert series concluded on April 28 with the Vocal Music Performance at Moiola School. It was an exciting event with music teachers Jon Lundgren and Lenny Graf conducting over 300 fourth grade students and Kevin Tison directing our Middle School Singers. Together, the instrumental Monster Concert, Orchestra Night, and the Vocal concerts brought in over $8,000 in funds for the FVEF. Dedicated volunteers worked each concert, selling food and opportunity tickets for over 60 fabulous baskets. Grand prizes included a 3-month Los Caballeros membership, Disneyland gift items & passes for four, and a first-class wine weekend getaway at the Belvino Viaggio in Paso Robles. Our thanks to the eleven wonderful PTA's and PTO's in the FVSD for contributing a wonderful basket to the vocal concert. My thanks also to FVEF volunteers (especially Joanne Lew, Susie Crandall, and Cheryl Shaylor), who created over 50 more baskets using their own generous donations as well as those from community businesses.

Rosemary Eadie's Spring Donation Drive to help save music and hands-on science has elicited a wonderful response from the parent community. The Teacher Tribute program chaired by Joanne Lew is bringing in generous donations from parents who wish to honor their favorite teacher with a donation to the Foundation. Talented FVEF board member Mark Flores is working on a new website for the Foundation. We look forward to having this valuable information and marketing tool up and running in the coming weeks. Despite many other successes, FVEF corporate donations are still down, creating funding challenges for the programs the Foundation supports.

Our congratulations to FVEF board member Paula Halsted for receiving the Outstanding Service Award; the top volunteer honor awarded by the school district. For the past eight years, Paula has done a phenomenal job of running our membership drive which supports programs in the arts, science and teacher grants. Anyone who wishes to donate to a specific endangered curriculum area can designate their donation to help save that program. Make checks payable to: FVEF, 10055 Slater Ave. FV, 92708.
