Foundation's Reach Greater Than Meets the Eye
at Final FV Summer Concert in the Park
As Sean Weiss, son of Foundation Board member Nicola Weiss, managed the beanbag toss at the Foundation's booth, it was apparent he had a hand in the success of the Chamber of Commerce Expo at Fountain Valley's last outdoor concert of the 2010 summer season.
Sean's mom and Foundation Board President Carla Neeld were busy shaking hands with taller passers-by at the July 29 expo. Board members Ian Collins, Diane Salzman, and Marilynn Manderscheid kept busy handing out the Foundation's new brochure and inviting folks to have their own hand in the education of Fountain Valley's children by purchasing a ticket to the upcoming Taste of Fountain Valley on October 8.
Posing for photographer and new Board member Sandy Heit, Fountain Valley Schools Superintendent Marc Ecker remarked that he already had "The Taste" written on his calendar, and reminisced about the great time everyone had last year at the casino and culinary event, thanks in part to the gracious support of the people at Mile Square Clubhouse banquet facility.
Not apparent, however, was the Foundation's hand in the exciting music being performed that evening by the band, the Originalites. Winners of the Battle of the Bands this summer, members of the band are all Fountain Valley High School graduates and products of the elementary music program that the Foundation is working so hard to preserve. Band member Tim Frankeny, in fact, began his music career playing clarinet in the Fountain Valley School District elementary school instrumental music program.
Full circle: it's what happens when we join hands.
